The annual budget for Salem Washington Academy for the 2024-25 school year did not receive the supermajority approval that it needed to override the tax levy cap. The vote was 266 yes to 188 no for an approval rate of 58.59%; the district needed 273 yes votes for a 60% supermajority to pass.
The proposition for the bus lease passed 342 yes to 111 no, along with the appropriation for the Bancroft Library with a vote of 347 yes to 107 no.
Congratulations to Jennifer McKeighan for being re-elected to the Board of Education with 329 votes and to write-in candidate John Hickland for being elected to the BOE with 99 votes.

The results of the vote will be accepted at the regular Board of Education meeting tomorrow ~ Wednesday, May 22, 2024 ~ at 5 p.m. (*new time*) in the auditorium. The Board will discuss next steps at that time.
