BOE Recorded Meetings

Information & FAQ's

Did you know?

  • Regular BOE meetings are open to the community. Community members are invited and encouraged to attend the meetings.

  • BOE policies, meeting agendas, and recordings of BOE meetings can be found on this website under the Board of Education page.

  • BOE seats are elected positions. BOE are volunteers and not paid.

  • Anyone over 18 years of age, residing in the district may run for a BOE seat. The district is comprised of Salem, Hebron, Shushan, Jackson, and Greenwich, New York, and Rupert, Vermont.

  • Salem Washington Academy has five BOE seats with three year terms. The term dates are staggered to ensure there is never a BOE comprised of all new members.

  • A quorum must be present in order to vote. A quorum is half of the BOE members plus one.

  • All regular BOE meetings are open to the public with the exception of the executive session portions. The BOE will make a reasonable effort to ensure that all meetings are held in an appropriate facility that can adequately accommodate all members of the public who wish to attend. District records are available to the public under the Freedom of Information Law, as well as any rule, regulation, policy, or amendment. Fun Fact!

Our district prides itself on giving our students a voice. At the school budget and school board vote (Tuesday, May 18, 2021) a resolution was passed authorizing the Board of Education to have a Salem high school student be permitted to serve as an ex officio, non-voting member of Salem’s Board of Education, subject to the requirements of education law. The student must be a senior and attended Salem CSD for at least the past two school years.
