SAT and ACT Information

Standardized testing receives a lot of attention in the college application process. Good scores can open many doors. However, students should keep in mind that test scores are one piece of the admission process.

When it comes to testing there is a “rule of three”. Students should consider taking an SAT and an ACT at the end of their junior year. Then retake the test they scored higher on. If a student does not test well, this can be explained to a college. The explanation has more meaning if the student has tested more than once. Colleges will use a student’s highest score in the admission process. Students should keep in mind that colleges are looking for reasons to admit, not reasons to deny admission.

On-line registration is highly recommended. The College Board and ACT do not provide paper copies of the registration form to the guidance office.  Please review the information in the links below and feel free to contact our office if you have any questions. Each link contains registration and test date information.

The links below will take you to the ACT and SAT websites. You can also visit, "Useful Websites and Resources", a new addition to the guidance page.
