Maintenance Project
At the January board meeting, the board of education set the date for the community to vote on a maintenance project for the district. The project is substantial, $21.3 million dollars, but includes a great deal of work that is needed to maintain our beautiful school. Some of this work includes repairs and improvements to our heating system throughout the school buildings, masonry repair on all our school buildings, roof maintenance, repair and replacement, and replacing important safety-related systems; for example, fire alarm system, phone systems, and public announcement systems. We also look to refurbish our gym locker rooms, refinish the gymnasium floor in the high school, refurbish the bathrooms in the high school and add bathrooms in the back of the school to allow for outdoor access in a more central location.

We've spent the past few years listening and talking to people throughout the community about the school and incorporated as many of those ideas as we felt we could. In the near future, we will be sending out a newsletter and media that specifically discuss the maintenance project. Additionally, we will have informational nights to share information about the project and answer questions that you may have.

We all agree that Salem school is a beautiful building that is an important part of the life of our students and community. The work proposed in the project is aimed to help prolong the life of the building for another 80 years, and hopefully beyond. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you soon. Please continue to monitor the school's website and Facebook pages for updated information.
